FACEBOOK SECURITY-SET YOUR PRIVACY

There are millions of people who use Facebook everyday but only few of them knows and use all security features of this famous social platform.If you want to prevent your personal information like email,phone numbers,friends list or another important things so you should apply some privacy and security in your account.

Do you know how to set these privacy and security features? If not .. don't worry,Let me tell you about these features in details and in simple .

To set a privacy or security in your account first sign in to your Facebook account then go to -setting or account settings.

GENERAL SETTINGS:

In general settings you can do these things

:

  CHANGE YOUR NAME- 

click on name or edit option

 -enter new name

- review your change

-enter your fb password

-save

But remember if you are changing your name then you won't be able to change again before 60 days.

CHANGE YOUR EMAIL:

-click on email or edit option

-enter new email

-confirm password

-save

Facebook will send a confirmation email to your new email address and you must go to your new email inbox to confirm it.Once you confirm your email you will be eligible to set this new email as your primary email and delete your old email address.

CHANGE YOUR PHONE NUMBER:

-click phone or edit option

-enter your new phone number

-enter secret code that fb sent on your new phone number for confirmation

-save changes

CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD:

If you think someone knows your password , you can change it anytime.

-click to password or change password

-enter old password

-create new password

-confirm new password

-save or change

TIPS TO MAKE A STRONG PASSWORD:

1)Use both types of letters-UPPERCASE and lowercase

2)Use one or two digits of number(1,2,3,...)

3)Use at least one symbol like @,$,&,*

4) Don't set your name or date of birth as your password.

5)Keep changing your password in regular time interval.

MOBILE PIN:

You can on/off this option.If you enable this feature, you need to prefix every status changing and friend adding text you send to Facebook with your selected PIN.This is to make sure that others will not have access to your Facebook account by spooling your phone number or browsing your phone.

SECURITY SETTINGS

IF YOU WANT TO SET SOME SECURITIES IN YOUR ACCOUNT THEN OPEN YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT AND GO TO SETTINGS OR ACCOUNT SETTINGS THEN GO TO SECURITY OPTION..

1)LOGIN ALERT:

If you want to get alert when someone try to login your account with different device or different locations or browser , you can ON this feature by these options

Notification-- on/off

Email--- on/off

2) THIRD PARTY AUTHENTICATION:

You can set up a third party app to generate Facebook security codes. These codes can be used for login approval or to reset your password

3) TRUSTED CONTACT :

You can select 3 TRUSTED CONTACT.Your trusted contact are friends you choose who can securely help you if ever have trouble accessing your account.

4) APP PASSWORD:

If you have an app that you want to log into using Facebook then type the name of the app you want to approve and Facebook will automatic generate a password for it.

5) YOUR RECOGNIZED DEVICES:

If you are using Facebook with different devices and Facebook is confirming every time your identify then you can use this feature. Just add your device name or model here, you won't get notified or have to confirm identify when logging in from these devices.

6) WHERE YOU LOGGED IN:

If you have doubt that someone open your account from somewhere then you can know by this feature . Just check here "your active sessions".

If you see unexpected login with unexpected location, you can logout from here by cancellation of that active session... after logout change your password immediately.

7) PROFILE PICTURE LOGIN SETTINGS.

A)If you want to login with profile picture you can add a passcode by Clicking "Add passcode". After creating passcode just tap your picture and enter 4 digit passcode to login.

B)Use password- If you don't want to create a passcode you can use this feature in which you can use your fb account password  to login in place of passcode - just tap on picture enter your password .

C)If you want login with profile picture just turn it off  by clicking on "Turn off profile picture login" option.

8) LEGACY CONTACT:

In this feature you can choose someone from your friends list to manage your account after you pass away. They will be able to...

-Pin a post on your timeline

-Respond to new friend requests

-Update your profile picture

-They won't  Be able to post as you or see your messages.

9) ACCOUNT DELETION:

 If you don't trust any friend in your list or  you don't want a Facebook account after you pass away, in this feature you can request to have your account permanently deleted instead of choosing a legacy contact.

Your account will get deleted.

-click on privacy

1)IF YOU WANT TO CONTROL YOUR POSTS PRIVACY...

- click on " who can see your future post?"

-choose 1 of these 3 options

A: public-

If you choose it, anyone can see your post

B: friends 

If you choose it, only your friends can see your posts

C:only me

If you choose it, only you can see your posts.

2)IF YOU WANT TO CONTROL WHO CAN SEE PEOPLE,PAGES AND LIST YOU FOLLOW THEN...

-Click on "who can see the people,pages and lists you follow?"

-choose 1 of these 3 options

A: public-

If you choose it, anyone can see .

B: friends 

If you choose it, only your friends can see .

C:only me

If you choose it, only you can see .

3)LIMIT THE AUDIENCE FOR POSTS YOU'VE SHARED WITH FRIENDS OF FRIEND OR PUBLIC:

if you are using this tool,content in your timeline you have shared with friends of friend or public will change to friend. Remember,people who are tagged and their friends may see those post as well.

If you want to use it click on

"Limit old post"

You also have the option to individually change the audience of your post.just go to the Post you want to change and choose different audience

4)IF YOU DON'T WANT TO RECEIVE STRANGER'S FRIENDS REQUEST THEN .

-click on "who can send you friends request"

-choose 1 of these 2 options

A: public-

If you choose it, anyone can send you request

B: friends of your friend.

If you choose it, only  friends of your friend can send you request 

5)IF YOU WANT TO CONTROL WHO CAN SEE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS THEN...

-click on "who can look up using the email address you provided"

-choose 1 of these 3 options

A: public-

If you choose it, anyone can see your email address

B: friends 

If you choose it, only your friends can see your  email address

C:only me

If you choose it, only you can see your email address.

6)IF YOU WANT TO SET PRIVACY FOR YOUR PHONE NUMBER THEN...

-click on " who can look up using the phone number you provided""

-choose 1 of these 3 options

A: public-

If you choose it, anyone can see your number.

B: friends 

If you choose it, only your friends can see your number.

C:only me

If you choose it, only you can see your number.

7)IF YOU WANT TO HIDE YOUR PROFILE FROM SEARCH ENGINE OR SEARCH RESULTS THEN...

-click on "do you want search engine outside of Facebook link to your profile"

REMEMBER: If this setting is on,search engine may link to your profile in these results.

When this setting is off,search engine will stop linking to your profile, but this may take some time. Your profile can still be found on Facebook if people search for your name.

If you want to use this feature then click on

"Allow search engine outside of Facebook to link to your profile"

TIMELINE AND TAGGING

:

IF you need privacy about your timeline and tagging then you should use this feature. For this go to account Settings- timeline and tagging.

Features-

1)Who can post on your timeline

-choose 1 of these 3 options

A: public-

If you choose it, anyone can post on your timeline .

B: friends 

If you choose it, only your friends can post on your timeline .

C:only me

If you choose it, only you can post on your timeline .

2)If your friend tagged you in a post and you want to see that post before appear on your timeline then click on this feature

"Review post of friends tag you in before appear on timeline"

And turn it ON.

3)Who can see posts you have been tagged on your time.

-choose 1 of these 4 options

A: public-

If you choose it, anyone can see tagged post on your timeline .

B: friends 

If you choose it, only your friends can see tagged posts on your timeline .

C: friends of friend

If you choose it , friends of your friend can see tagged posts on your timeline

D:only me

If you choose it, only you can see  tagged posts on your timeline.

4) WHO CAN SEE WHAT OTHER POST ON YOUR TIMELINE

-choose 1 of these 3 options

A: public-

If you choose it, anyone can see .

B: friends 

If you choose it, only your friends can see .

C:only me

If you choose it, only you can see

5) Review tags people add to Your own posts before that tags appear on fb.

You can turn it on/off

6) When you're tagged in a post who do you want to add to the audience if they aren't already in it.

-choose 1 of these 2 options

 .

A: friends 

B:only me

7)WHO SEE TAG SUGGESTIONS WHEN PHOTOS THAT LOOK LIKE YOU ARE UPLOADED

CHOOSE 1 of these 2 options

A: friends

B:no one

REMEMBER- If you choose option A: friends- When a photo that looks like you uploaded,fb will suggest adding a tag of you. This helps to save time  when adding tags to photo . Specially when labeling many photos from the event.

 If you choose option B: No one- Suggestions can always be ignored and no one will be tagged automatically.

BLOCKING Is a most popular tool to stop someone to see your updates. Once you block some that person can no longer see things you post on your timeline,tag you,invite you to event or groups, start a conversation with you or add you as a friend (Doesn't include apps,games or groups you both participate in.

Its really easy to block someone.

1) Go to his/her profile- click on thee dot icon (in fb app) or scroll down his/her profile and click on "block this person".

2) go to account settings- click on BLOCKING option-enter his/her email address or phone number oe full name- block
